Communicating Anti-Imperialism and Postcolonialism in Esperanto Youth Media

A visiting scholar from the UK will be discussing youth-oriented Esperanto magazines!

This talk unpacks how spelling reform proposals, vocabulary choice, and articles discussing the ‘Third World’ attempted to engage the global South in the then Eurocentric Esperanto-speaking community.

Guilherme Fians is Leverhulme Research Fellow at the University of St Andrews (UK). He is also a Visiting Research Fellow at the Robert S. Cox Special Collections and Research Archives at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
