Restorative Practices: Creating Hope and Homing
Please join us for Community Orientation 2022 featuring Jasmyn Story of Honeycomb Justice Consulting. Jasmyn will share their work in Restorative Practices and the work Honeycomb has supported at Hampshire. Their talk will be followed by Community Building Circles facilitated by students, staff and faculty.
Hampshire is working to infuse Restorative Practices into the many layers of our community. Restorative Practices is an umbrella term that includes Community Building Circles and elements of Restorative Justice.
Community Orientation is our first all community gathering for the Fall Semester and will include a welcome from President Ed Wingenbach. Members of the Common Good Residency will also briefly share some of their collaborative work to design and implement embodied land acknowledgements.
We hope to see you there as we reconnect as a community.
Sincerely,
The Planning Team
Javiera Benavente, Assistant Dean of Collaborative Learning & Practices
William Syldor-Severino, Director for Restorative Practices
Mary Bombardier, Assistant Dean of Community Engagement

Description of the Talk and Jasmyn Story Bio
Title: Restorative Practices: Creating Hope & Homing
Description: Through imaginative storytelling, Jasmyn Elise Story will walk participants through a dialogue about home. This keynote will focus on creating a home at three levels, the internal, the communal, and the global. We will discuss what is necessary to journey inwards and create a home within oneself. This will be followed by a look at what it means to create a home away from home. How do we do this? How do we do this well? What tools do we bring on this journey? We will close our dialogue by exploring how our dreams and aspirations forge future homes for each other and the planet.
