Cross Country Ski

Warning message

Hampshire users: Log in for increased access.

We will go where there is snow!

Beginners new to cross country skiing are welcome. OPRA will provide skis, boots, poles and our instructor will teach you the basics to enjoy a day cross country skiing.

If snow is good here in the valley we may ski the groomed and picturesque hills and meadows of Cherry Hill Golf Course in North Amherst, with access to ungroomed single-track skiing in the woods along the Robert Frost Trail and Eastman Brook Conservation Area.

Or we may need to travel to find snow 1 hour west to Notchview in the Berkshires or north to Prospect XC Ski Area in southern Vermont.

Beginners and experienced skiers alike will enjoy trails with different and appropriate levels of challenge for all ability levels.

Trail pass (if required) is included in the trip cost.

Bring lunch and a snack, and two liters of water in your daypack. Wear wool or synthetic underwear top and bottom, wool or warm synthetic socks, a winter hat and gloves or mittens, pants, jacket or shell and layers. Meet at RCC at 8:30 AM, and plan to return to campus by 4:30 PM.
