Travel and Internship Opportunities in NEPAL

Warning message

Hampshire users: Log in for increased access.

I am leading trips through the countryside of Nepal. Contact me about volunteering, travel, and internships through the Shauna Rose Kaufman Foundation. We are a federal 501c-3 that has been working in Nepal for 8 years. We run independent projects as well as working with the US Embassy. Our work aims to help students get resources they need for education, provide extra curricular enrichment through the arts, and support disadvantaged individuals in the community. Anyone interested in art, music, and helping others is welcome to apply to come volunteer in the schools we have partnered with. We run programs including a bookmobile, music and dance classes for blind and deaf students, and art education. Use your creativity to bring joy and self-expression to those in need. Design your own volunteering experience or become an intern and work on the projects we run in the Kathmandu Valley.

Volunteering

Examples of Design-Your-Own Volunteering Experiences

Use your skills and interests to do something unique and wonderful to help others.

- work in a medical clinic in a rural village and create a play to teach about sanitation

- teach music lessons of an instrument you play and donate local instruments such as tabla

- live at an Eco-village and learn local farming techniques while running community clean-up days

- work with traditional woodcarvers and help market their goods to save a dying trade

You create your experience, and we give you the resources to make it possible. Decide how long you want to stay, and we will organize a homestay or private lodging in the place of your choice. There will be a volunteer coordinator to help you in-country.

Travel to Nepal

Culture, Religion and Mysticism in the Mountainscape - August 2018

This summer I am leading a small group interested in uncovering the spiritual beliefs of this region. You'll get to explore deep within the country and stay in little-known ashrams. Meet dreadlocked yogis and monks, and have the chance to receive shamanic healings. Visit sacred temples and learn meditation, devotional practices, and Sanskrit chanting. Anyone looking for a truly authentic experience learning about Hinduism and Buddhism is welcome to apply. Part of the trip will include humanitarian work, a key part of these Eastern philosophies and a stepping stone for personal growth. A fee will cover the cost of organizing, in-country travel, food, lodging, and donations to charitable projects.

Contact me to receive details about the itinerary and cost of the trip, or about doing an internship with our foundation.
