Pig Retirement Party

Warning message

Hampshire users: Log in for increased access.

After six successful years as our herd of breeding pigs, it has come time for Duke, Mable and Roxy to move on to new adventures. Don’t freak out. That is not some weird euphemism. Charlotte has worked hard to find them some sweet retirement gigs. Duke and Roxy will stay together and move to a homestead/educational farm in RI. Mable and her baby gilt, Marigold will be moving to an historic farm in Westport, MA  where they will be kept busy “pig -scaping” helping to revitalize some under-utilized land. We will be throwing them a retirement party, complete with cake, this Thurs 4/7 at 3pm. Join us if you can. And don’t worry there will be more piglets at Hampshire. One of Mabel’s baby boars will be staying with us and stepping into Duke’s shoes as Big Man On Campus. He will be joined by two new baby gilts sometime in the next few weeks.
