As the Creative Director of Character Design, Louis Henry Mitchell directs and oversees all aspects of character art for licensing and merchandising. He leads the character design group in growing the business through innovative interpretations and representations of the classic characters. He also directs the still photography of the Sesame Street Muppets, designs DVD covers, and creates "still performances" of the armatured Muppets for Sesame Workshop's global audience.
In this Leadership Talk, we'll talk to Louis about:
- How he got to Sesame Street
- His role as a Creative Director
- Where he finds inspiration for his creations
- His creative process and how creative collaboration works at Sesame Workshop
- The development of new characters like Julia and Ji-Young and more
- The impact of Sesame Street on generations of children and adults
- And why he believes a return to the classic fundamentals of art and design are what artists of all disciplines need in order to stand out and be true creatives
