The Hampshire Dance Program is proud to present the 2023 Spring Dance Concert, a concert featuring student choreography that embraces dance as an expansive, inclusive, and incisive art form. This concert will also feature a Division III work by Debbie Ampong. Please join us on Friday and Saturday, April 7th & 8th!
This year’s concert features student choreography developed by students who are incorporating dance into their divisional studies. The concert will feature Debbie Ampong's Division III project, a multimedia fusion of Hip Hop, modern, and House styles, with film and animation elements exploring the power of dance. An energetic duet by Katharine Davis utilizes ballet vocabulary to expand possibilities in the form. Whitney Byington, with collaborator Lousig Morris, delves into the ways that memory and light shapes space, time, and experience. Yarrow Skoblow directs a trio of movers accompanied by Julius Spencer’s live composition for piano. And Samara Ternoir performs a burlesque-inspired piece with original poetry that is a meditation on confidence, desire, and the intensity of being emotionally haunted by love.
The Hampshire Dance Program has cultivated a space for these students to engage in dance and movement research and produce performances that will captivate both your mind and your body. Please join us on Friday and Saturday, April 7th & 8th, to experience their work. This is a concert you will not want to miss!
