Ever try Pawpaw fruit? Persimmon? Kiwi?
Want to connect with the "Hampshire Food Forest"?
The Greenwich Forest Garden is a 15 year old biodiverse food forest on campus, started as a Div. III. This session will orient you on how to get involved caring for this edible landscape. Learn about its tasty, edible and medicinal plants, and how to ID, harvest and prepare them - how this garden works as a functional ecosystem, and how students can enjoy the space!
There are many rewarding opportunities for involvement in this lush plant community, such as
- Divisional work and special projects
- Paid Work Study hours
- CEL requirements and community service
- Independent studies and academic credit
Info Session will be led by two Hampshire alumni: Ned Phillips-Jones, founder and
steward of Greenwich Forest Garden, student mentor, and Felix Lufkin, founder of
Help Yourself, a 501c3 organization which builds orchards and gardens in public
lands in Western MA. For more info email Ned: nedphillipsjones@gmail.com
