ENGAGE!
Radical Change
Join us for this spring’s 2023 ENGAGE!, which will focus on and embrace Restorative Practices Transformative Justice, centering antiracism. Please visit the following link for more information: https://bit.ly/hampengage2023s. This website will be updated regularly.
To launch ENGAGE, on the evening of February 21st, there will be a performance of “Mother Tongue”, by First Generation Ensemble. “Mother Tongue” is a 90 minute original multilingual physical theater performance, created by Springfield-based First Generation Ensemble, composed of young adults ages 15-22 who self-identify as "first generation”. The piece is inspired by events and family stories from Congo/Tanzania, Bhutan/Nepal, South Sudan, Holyoke, and Springfield. “Mother Tongue” incorporates movement, music, dance, and text in Arabic, Swahili, Nepali, and English.
In the morning of February 22nd, we’ll provide opportunities for Hampshire College Community members to learn from and connect with community partners engaging in Restorative & Transformative Practice in a variety of settings. Partners include Amherst’s CRESS (Community Responders for Equity, Safety & Service), and Amherst College’s CRP (Center for Restorative Practices), among others.
In the afternoon, we’ll engage in Restorative Circle practices as a community, in smaller groups, to explore what Restorative Practices mean to us, especially as Hampshire College furthers and deepens its commitment to Restorative Practices & Transformative Justice.
We'll be providing light refreshments prior to Tuesday's (2/21) performance. We'll also provide light breakfast items, and lunch on the 22nd.
We hope to see you there!
