Please join the Dean of Faculty Office on Thursday, December 16 from 3- 5 pm at the Kern 2nd Floor to wish Katie Irwin, Director of the Global Education Office farewell as she begins a different and exciting chapter in her professional career. Katie will be moving to Valencia, Spain and working with the Berklee College of Music Valencia Campus as Director of Study Abroad and Special Programs.
Katie has been at the College since 2007 as Assistant Director of Campus Internationalization and promoted to Co-Director of Global Education and Director of Campus Internationalization. In June 2011 she was promoted to Director of Global Education. The Global Education Office has changed tremendously throughout the years and she has had a great impact on making the office more visible in the years she has been here. Katie advised students on a broad range of education abroad opportunities as well as the Cuba and Berlin Programs. In addition, Katie has been strong advocate for global education She is truly dedicated to education abroad and is a thoughtful and caring advisor who has developed wonderful relationships with faculty, staff and students. Although we will miss Katie’s presence on campus, we all share with her the excitement of what lies ahead for her future.
We expect the transition in the GEO office to be smooth with the hire of Allison Kretschmar to Director of the Global Education Office. I hope this transition will continue to be seamless and that Allison will continue to think critically and creatively about the future of global education at Hampshire.
